Voice and Biometric Data

• Voice commands and recordings when using the AI caddie feature
• Transcriptions of voice interactions
• Voiceprints or other biometric identifiers derived from voice recordings (see Section 1.3 below for our Biometric Data Policy)

User-Generated Content

• Notes and comments about your rounds
• Team information (for coaches and players)

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Location Data

• GPS coordinates while using the App on the golf course
• Location is used for distance calculations, shot tracking, and course mapping
• You can disable location services in your device settings, but some features may not function properly

Device Information

• Device type and operating system
• Unique device identifiers
• Push notification tokens

Usage Data

• App interactions and feature usage
• Screen views and navigation patterns
• Error logs and crash reports
• Session duration and frequency of use

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and improve our services: Deliver AI-powered golf recommendations, track your performance, and personalize your experience
• Process voice commands: Analyze voice input to provide real-time caddie assistance and club recommendations
• Calculate distances and positions: Use GPS data to show your location on the course and calculate distances to targets
• Generate insights: Analyze your shot data to identify patterns and provide improvement suggestions
• Enable social features: Allow coaches to view player performance, enable fans to follow players and teams
• Send notifications: Deliver push notifications about team updates, follow requests, and app features
• Communicate with you: Respond to support requests and send service-related announcements
• Ensure security: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats
• Improve the App: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features and fix bugs
• Comply with legal obligations: Meet requirements under applicable privacy, consumer protection, and data security laws

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

3.1 With Your Consent

• When you choose to share your performance data with coaches or allow fans to follow you
• When you join a team and share data with team members

3.2 With Third-Party AI Services

ParPal uses third-party artificial intelligence services to power its AI caddie and personalized golf features. Before any data is sent to AI services, we ask for your explicit consent within the app. You may decline or revoke consent at any time in Settings, which will disable AI-powered features.

We use the following AI service providers:

OpenAI — Voice transcription and natural language processing

• Data sent: Voice audio recordings, shot context, club distances
• Purpose: Transcribes your voice commands (via Whisper), processes natural language to understand requests, and generates caddie recommendations and club suggestions (via GPT-4)
• Retention: Voice audio is processed in real-time and not permanently stored by OpenAI

Anthropic (Claude) — Course strategy and analysis

• Data sent: Handicap, shot tendencies, course and hole details
• Purpose: Generates personalized course strategies, analyzes hole layouts for optimal play, and creates pre-round game plans tailored to your skill level
• Retention: Data is processed per-request and not used for model training

ElevenLabs — Text-to-speech

• Data sent: Caddie response text only (no personal data)
• Purpose: Converts written caddie recommendations into spoken audio for hands-free use on the course
• Retention: Audio is generated in real-time and not stored

Pinecone — Shot history and recommendations

• Data sent: Shot data (club, distance, lie, outcome), anonymized user identifier
• Purpose: Stores shot history as vector embeddings to find similar past situations and provide personalized recommendations over time
• Retention: Shot data is retained to improve recommendation accuracy; no personal information (name, email, phone) is stored

Data protection across all providers:

• Your name, email, phone number, and other personal information are not sent to any AI service
• Only an anonymized technical identifier is used where necessary
• Your data is not sold to third parties
• All providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for delivering our services
• We may add, remove, or change AI service providers from time to time. Any material changes will be reflected in this Privacy Policy with updated notice.

3.3 With Other Service Providers

We use additional third-party services to operate the App, including cloud infrastructure (Firebase/Google Cloud), payment processing (Stripe), analytics, mapping, and push notification services. These providers receive only the data necessary to perform their functions and are obligated to protect your information.

3.4 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

3.5 Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:

• Account data: Retained until you delete your account. Upon account deletion, account data is permanently deleted within 30 days.
• Golf performance data: Retained to provide historical analysis and trends for the life of your account. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
• Voice recordings: Processed in real-time and not permanently stored. See Section 1.3 (Biometric Data Policy) for the biometric data retention and destruction schedule.
• Analytics data: Retained in anonymized form for product improvement. Anonymized data may be retained after account deletion.

You can request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 7).

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

• Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL)
• Secure cloud infrastructure (Firebase/Google Cloud)
• Access controls and authentication
• Regular security reviews

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5.1 Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that compromises your personal information, we will:

• Notify affected users without unreasonable delay and in compliance with applicable state and federal notification requirements
• Notify the Illinois Attorney General and other applicable regulators as required by law
• Provide details about the nature of the breach, the types of information involved, and steps you can take to protect yourself
• For users in the European Economic Area, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours of becoming aware of a breach, as required by GDPR

6. Children's Privacy

ParPal Golf is designed for high school golfers and adults. The App is not intended for, and is not directed at, children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

During account creation, all users must affirmatively confirm that they are at least 13 years old. Users who do not confirm cannot create an account or use the App.

If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete the account and all associated data.

If you believe a child under 13 has created an account on ParPal Golf, please contact us immediately at support@parpalgolf.com so we can take appropriate action.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Portability

You can access your golf performance data and account information through the App. You may also request a portable copy of your data by contacting us.

7.2 Correction

You can update your profile information in the App settings.

7.3 Deletion

You can delete your account and associated data through the App settings. Upon deletion:

• Your account and profile will be permanently removed within 30 days
• Your golf performance data will be deleted
• Biometric data will be permanently destroyed per our Biometric Data Policy (Section 1.3)
• Data shared with third-party services may be retained according to their policies

7.4 Opt-Out Options

• Push Notifications: Disable in your device settings
• Location Services: Disable in your device settings (some features may not work)
• AI Data Sharing: Revoke consent in App Settings (AI-powered features will be disabled)
• Analytics: Contact us to opt out of non-essential analytics
• Universal Opt-Out Mechanisms: We recognize and honor browser-based universal opt-out preference signals (such as the Global Privacy Control) as valid opt-out requests, as required by applicable state laws including Connecticut, Oregon, and other jurisdictions.

7.5 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share your data for cross-context behavioral advertising)
• Correct inaccurate personal information
• Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information
• Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights

7.6 Additional U.S. State Privacy Rights

Residents of the following states have additional privacy rights under their respective consumer data protection laws. These rights generally include the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of your data, and the right to opt out of certain processing activities:

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights including:

• Right to restrict or object to processing
• Right to data portability
• Right to withdraw consent
• Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

Our legal bases for processing your personal data include: performance of our contract with you (providing the App services), your consent (for AI data sharing and voice processing), and our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and product improvement).

8. Third-Party Links and Services

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. These countries may have different data protection laws.

For transfers of personal data from the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland to the United States or other countries, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, or other valid transfer mechanisms under applicable law, to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection.

By using the App, you consent to such transfers. You may contact us for more information about the safeguards we have in place.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

• Posting the updated policy in the App
• Updating the "Last Updated" date
• Sending an email notification for significant changes

Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
